The Canadian Red Cross has been – and will continue to be – actively working with over 200 indigenous communities across the country. These initiatives will help build stronger, healthier and safer communities now and in the long term. In addition to empowering local volunteers with the tools needed to effectively respond to the challenges faced by their communities, your donation can go towards providing basic necessities following an emergency, violence prevention programs, safety courses, or community health and wellness programs.

Your donation to the Indigenous Communities Fund may include:

  • Support communities in preparing for and responding to emergencies
  • Help prevent violence and abuse and limit its negative effects
  • Help provide drowning prevention courses in northern and remote communities
  • Support to community health and wellness initiatives.
The Canadian Red Cross is committed to working in partnership with Indigenous communities, in a way that recognizes their strengths and diversity.

By donating to the Indigenous Communities Fund you not only help provide immediate assistance following emergencies, you help entire communities become stronger, safer and healthier over the long term. Your contribution improves the lives of those in need today and for years to come.

Donations help the Red Cross respond to needs in indigenous communities across Canada. In certain situations, funds raised are kept in trust and can then be used to respond to future needs as they arise.
