Personalized Recovery Support
We are offering personalized recovery support to people whose primary residence was impacted by the 2025 wildfires. This support is thanks to donations made to the 2025 Newfoundland and Labrador Wildfires Appeal.
If the wildfires impacted you, our Case Management teams can help. They will meet with you to discuss your unique needs. They will help you navigate your recovery journey and access supports.
Available recovery programs
This may include:
- Support planning for your return home
- Support understanding insurance
- Support understanding community resources
- Providing referrals to access mental health services
- Support understanding available information to help you make decisions and plan your next steps.
Financial assistance may also be available. This assistance is to help you with your basic needs.
If the wildfires destroyed or caused major damage to your primary residence, this program can help. This support is available to homeowners, renters, or those who live in a community-owned home.
Note: Your primary residence is where you live most of the time.
Our case managers and experts can support you with:
- Putting together a recovery plan.
- Understanding insurance.
- Understanding the steps to rebuild your home.
- Understanding community resources.
- Referrals and information to help you make decisions and plan your next steps.
Financial assistance
You may also be able to receive financial assistance to help with costs related to repairing or rebuilding your home. This could include:
- Expenses related to professional services. For example, you may need to hire an engineer. Or you may need to consult with a financial or legal professional.
- Expenses related to repairing or rebuilding your home.
- Expenses related to moving to a new location.
- Expenses related to mental health and well-being support.
- We can support you if you have insurance, or if you do not have insurance.
- We determine eligibility for financial assistance on a case-by-case basis.
- We provide support and financial assistance for costs that your insurance or other assistance programs do not already cover.

Fraud Alert
Unfortunately, there are some people who may try to take advantage of those impacted by a disaster through fraudulent tactics. To protect yourself from fraud, it's important to understand the steps involved in receiving funds from the Canadian Red Cross.
The Canadian Red Cross communicates only via email, phone, or in person and would never send a link through a text message for a person to click on to receive funds. We will never ask for your social insurance number, bank account information or credit card number during your registration or to receive assistance. The Canadian Red Cross encourages people to stay informed from credible sources, such as the Government of Canada’s website for fraud prevention tips. If you suspect you have been a victim of fraudulent activity, please contact your local police authority.
