Nunavut

The Canadian Red Cross works with numerous partners to deliver programs and services in all communities across Nunavut.

Through an ongoing partnership with the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Education, the Red Cross offers programming to schools and communities focused on promoting safe and caring schools, scaffolding healthy relationships preventing all forms of violence. In addition, Red Cross also provides key support to the Government of Nunavut’s education team when invited to support in situations of traumatic loss.

Part of the education programming includes the annual Nipivut Youth Leadership conference, which brings together young people from multiple communities to learn about being a role model, and about taking care of themselves and each other.

Through a partnership with Embrace Life Council and in consultation with Nunavut elders, Red Cross supports the creation of safer communities through community engagement and planning. This work is aligned with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.

In Iqaluit, the Red Cross has a small team of volunteers that respond to emergencies.
