- In April 2024, the Canadian Red Cross hosted a two-day Domestic Emergency Response Unit (D-ERU) open house event at the Best Western Plus Airport Hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Empowering Communities: Opioid Harm Reduction in Canada

- In recent years, Canada has faced a grave challenge in the form of the opioid crisis, demanding urgent action and innovative solutions.  Dedicated people like Judi Frank have emerged as beacons of hope and catalysts for change. We took the time to learn more about Judi’s inspiring journey, exploring her work in the opioid harm reduction space, the critical role of community engagement, and the importance of self-care in combating compassion fatigue.
 

Red Cross brings healthcare support to Igloolik, Nunavut

- In mid-January 2022, the community of Igloolik, Nunavut went from its first case of COVID-19 to over 100 cases in the span of three days. The takeover of COVID-19 operations by Red Cross nurses was warmly welcomed, allowing local health staff to focus on other equally important public health issues.

2022-2023 Nipivut Youth Leadership Conference

- The Nipivut Youth Leadership Conference is held annually to engage and support student leadership as well as foster tools and teachings to promote student wellness. Each year, a variety of speakers host workshops for Nunavut students that foster the Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) – or Inuit “Traditional Knowledge.”

- Young artists from across the territory helped us create this colouring book for youth and youth mental wellness. 

Nurses going north: Providing healthcare support in Nunavut

- After being a nurse for 48 years, Jane Fox of Vancouver Island, was looking for a change as she transitioned to different opportunities for the end of her career.
 

Call for artist submission: Nunavut colouring book designs

- Are you a youth (aged 12 to 25) from Nunavut who likes to draw? The Canadian Red Cross is looking for artists to submit artwork for a Nunavut wellness colouring book! Successful submissions will receive $250.
 

Welcome to Canadian winter: Dressing for winter conditions

- Canada’s famously cold temperatures can easily catch people by surprise. As newcomers learn about their new country, winter weather will be a big part of this introduction – so the Canadian Red Cross and Immigration Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) have teamed up to provide helpful advice to help them dress for winter success!
