Nova Scotia Premier Dexter announces funding for Canadian Red Cross

The Canadian Red Cross office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia was buzzing this morning after Premier Dexter announced that the province is contributing $800,000 to a new training facility for volunteers. The centre of excellence for disaster management will provide the space and state-of-the-art equipment needed to train thousands of volunteers, which is great news for all of us at the Canadian Red Cross. The provincial contribution is the centrepiece of the $3-million fundraising Prepared campaign for this project. Other contributions so far have come from individuals, corporations, as well as the Cold Campout fundraiser.

In the photo, Premier Dexter unveils the rendering of the new centre, along with the Minister of Community Services, Denise Peterson-Rafuse, and the chair of the Canadian Red Cross Prepared campaign, Colin MacDonald.
