Sarah is the Vice President, Legal and Risk Services and the Corporate Secretary for the Canadian Red Cross. She joined the organization in 2018 from a career in private practice at an international law firm.

In her current role, Sarah leads the legal and risk functions, which are focused on safeguarding the organization’s mission by ensuring strong governance, enterprise wide-risk management, regulatory and legal compliance, and critical incident management. In her role, she anticipates legal and risk implications of organizational decisions and works closely with colleagues across the organization in developing proactive solutions to meet the Canadian Red Cross humanitarian mission.

As Corporate Secretary, Sarah supports the organization’s Board of Directors board by ensuring legal compliance and ensuring the board operates effectively, enabling informed, strategic decision-making.

A notable experience since joining the Canadian Red Cross was navigating the risks related to the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the largest responses in the organization’s modern history.

Sarah graduated with her law degree from Queens University. She currently lives in Ottawa and spends most of her free time shuffling kids to hockey rinks.
