Chief Operating Officer
Larry Mills became Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at the Canadian Red Cross in 2016.
He is responsible for leadership of the organization’s overall operational strategy and ensuring the harmonization of resources and processes among geographic, service lines and support services.
Since joining the Canadian Red Cross, Larry has led the successful implementation of quality management practices, improved its service line focus, and led the development of the organization’s risk management. He has also been instrumental in advancing the organization’s specialization strategy in emergency management.
Larry has more than 30 years of proven leadership and management experience in non-profit, professional services and health care organizations in Canada and the Asia Pacific. He has broad international and cultural experience, including over 20 years in Greater China. As a partner with Ernst & Young Asia Pacific, he was responsible for management of risk and claims. He also worked with PWC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) in connection with a significant charitable foundation, where he advised administrators on various matters impacting the foundation’s assets.
Larry is a Chartered Public Accountant and speaks English, French and Mandarin. He lives in Ottawa where he enjoys playing golf and training for Ironman events.
