Helping your community be ready for disasters
- The Canadian Red Cross has a long history of responding to disasters and works alongside all levels of government to help those affected. The Red Cross augments the capacity of local authorities to ensure impacted communities receive the help they need as effectively and efficiently as possible.
2019 Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year announced
- The Canadian Red Cross is pleased to announce that John Hopkins is the recipient of the 2019 Regina Humanitarian of the Year award. Hopkins will receive the award at the annual Power of Humanity Awards Reception in Regina on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019.
A fishing trip gone wrong and how lifejackets saved everyone

Forced from their homes, Pikangikum residents find respite with the Red Cross
- On July 7, 2019, heavy smoke from nearby forest fires forced the community of Pikangikum First Nation in northwestern Ontario to evacuate. Saskatchewan opened its doors and for two weeks, 426 evacuated people were hosted at the University of Regina campus.
Bridging the Years - Friendly Phone Program
- There are almost four decades between Evelyn Kowalchuk and Alysia Ness. The differences between them are significant and yet they spend hours each month chatting together. They are both members of the Canadian Red Cross Friendly Phone Program.
Building capacity to better respond to emergencies in northern Saskatchewan
- Having local volunteers who know their neighbours and their community helps disaster responses go more smoothly.
Celebrating 2019 K+S Pink Day
- On Feb. 27, 2019 more than 72,000 celebrated K+S Pink Day this year across Saskatchewan by wearing shirts, holding fundraisers and celebrating at their schools.
Helping families affected by wildfires
- From June 19 to 28, 2018, on behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Red Cross provided emergency assistance to 937 people who were affected by smoke from wildfires near Southend, SK.
Collaboration Agreements in Saskatchewan
- This year the Red Cross signed Collaboration Agreements with Cowesses First Nation and Meadow Lake Tribal Council.
Providing comfort to the families affected by the Humboldt Broncos bus crash
- On April 6, 2018, a parent’s worst nightmare occurred when the Humboldt Broncos Hockey Team collided with a tractor trailer as they were on their way to Nipawin, Sask., for a playoff game.
