Showing Canada cares with free outdoor concert on May 29th

Guest Post by Kathryn Dunmore, Red Cross Blogger

What better way to celebrate Canada’s part in saving millions of lives than with the free #CanadaCares outdoor concert and family day. We hope you'll join us on May 29 in Toronto for a day of family activities and entertainment that will show how we're making a difference in the lives of women and children around the world.

The free concert, featuring Juno Award-winning Serena Ryder and ‘Canada’s Queen of R&B’ Jully Black, will take place this Thursday (May 29th) in Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto at 7 p.m., following an afternoon of family fun including a splash fountain, supervised play area, face painting and more.

Bring a picnic and enjoy activities including knitting a global Blanket of Hope, which will be displayed in an upcoming summit for moms and newborns in Johannesburg, and show your support for this cause through an interactive Twitter wall using #CanadaCares.

At the Impact expo, learn how Canadian organizations are working to end global maternal, newborn and child mortality rates.

The concert and family day is organized by a coalition of organizations in the Canadian Network for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (CAN-MNCH), including the Canadian Red Cross, to celebrate Canada’s leadership in saving the lives of millions of mothers, newborns and children around the world.
