Visit to Syrian refugee camps

This past week, Conrad Sauvé, the Secretary General and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross, visited refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon where thousands of people are currently living after fleeing conflict in Syria. He met families who have lost their homes and have been separated from family members as a result of the on-going conflict.

Conrad Sauvé witnessed first hand the significant humanitarian needs of Syrians living in neighbouring countries who have hosted refugees since the conflict began more than two years ago.

Conrad Sauvé and Hossam Elsharkawi met with colleagues from the Lebanese Red Cross.

Local Red Cross and Red Crescent societies are providing emergency medical care and cash, as well as other assistance, though they would like to do more to assist the growing number of refugees seeking help.

The Canadian Red Cross is aiming to support these efforts. You can help by donating to the Middle East and Northern Africa Crisis Fund.
