Please join us for this special webinar on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and engagement with Armed Non-State Actors featuring Dr. Brian McQuinn, practitioner and researcher with two decades of experience in conflict-affected countries.

The nature of war is changing. Today, the majority of conflicts are non-international in nature, involving one or more non-state armed groups. The number of armed groups have also increased exponentially in recent years, contributing to the complexity of armed conflicts. In 2018, the ICRC released The Roots of Restraint in War Report, which explores the factors that influence behavior of both armed forces and armed groups. Co-author of the report, Dr. Brian McQuinn, will provide insight into these findings and discuss the challenges to humanitarian operations in the field.

This Webinar will explore the efforts to engage with armed non-state actors in order to ensure greater respect for IHL on the battlefield.
