It is estimated that over 333,000 people have been affected by flooding in Nepal. In some areas, volunteers are using boats to reach marooned villages cut off from the rest of the population by high waters.

The Nepal Red Cross Society is leading the coordination of relief efforts among the government, United Nations agencies and other aid organizations. Trained Red Cross volunteers have been mobilized and in some places, volunteers are using boats to reach marooned villages. In cooperation with the World Food Programme, local Red Cross volunteers and staff are providing rice, noodles, salt and sugar to around 62,000 people, along with first aid and ambulance services. Plastic sheets, cooking utensils and blankets have also been given to more than 3,000 families.
