The Canadian Red Cross is launching an urgent appeal for donations to help the people of Stephenville, on the western side of Newfoundland, who were forced from their homes Tuesday morning by sudden, severe flooding. Red Cross has registered more than 250 evacuees. Families had to leave quickly, some with nothing but the clothes on their back, and may be unable to return home for days. In the short term, those affected require clothing, food and personal hygiene products and other essentials.
