Caberry Yu

Caberry is from Ontario and has been a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross for more than a decade. In 2011, she helped co-found the Canadian Red Cross York Region Youth Action Council.

Since then, she has led the McMaster University subgroup of the Red Cross and served as a Personal Disaster Responder in Hamilton and in Kingston. Caberry also has experience on large Red Cross responses, including the 2018 Refugee Claimant response, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. She was an expert contributor for the Canadian Red Cross white paper named “Closing the Gap: Advancing Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery for Older Adults.”

Caberry is a MD graduate of Queen’s University, with an interest in global health and health policy.

She brings to the National Membership both experience in governance and leadership in non-profit organizations, and long-term commitment and knowledge of the Red Cross. She is excited to become a National Member, knowing that the role is vital to the governance of the organization.
