Registration and financial assistance 

If your household was affected by the spring floodings and you are registered with the Red Cross, you could be eligible for financial assistance.


Families who have registered with the Red Cross and are eligible will receive $600 in direct financial assistance by electronic transfer. For details on the registration and distribution process for financial assistance, see this overview.

As of July 25, the Red Cross is providing additional financial assistance to support those affected as they recover. For an overview of the financial assistance available, please see below or consult the PDF version here.

Reception and information centres for immediate assistance

During this period of flooding, the Canadian Red Cross is working closely with municipal and provincial authorities. Red Cross volunteers have been mobilized to support those affected by the floods.


If you need help, please go to one the following reception and information centres during posted hours, when volunteers will be available to assist you.

  • Up to $1,200 for homeowners whose property has suffered significant damage

  • Up to $1,200 for tenants whose housing has suffered significant damage
    • Relocation assistance to close the rent gap between old and new housing
  • Up to $750 for any eligible person
    • Professional support in mental health
  • Up to $700 for any eligible person
    • Outstanding humanitarian aid
HOW? A Red Cross caseworker will assess the needs of those affected by the spring floods of 2019 during an in-person interview or a phone call.
