COVID-19: Wondering about vaccines?

In early 2020, as measures to try to contain the spread of COVID-19 began, many of us had no idea how much our lives were about to change. Physical distancing, remote learning, lockdowns, and wearing masks would soon become a temporary way of life around the world. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel – Health Canada approved vaccines are now being distributed!

In Canada, there are currently three approved vaccines. All vaccines were approved by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) after being reviewed through Health Canada’s independent drug authorization process. According to PHAC the quick development of the vaccines was made possible for many reasons, including advancements in technology, the amount of available funding, and collaboration between scientists, health professionals, researchers, industry leaders and government.

We need to keep washing our hands regularly, physically distancing, and wearing masks, as well as following the guidelines we’re given by our local health authorities.

It’s been a long road to get here, and we still need to be patient while we wait for the vaccination program to be finished. It’s okay to not feel okay. If you’re looking for mental health resources for yourself or a loved one, our website is a great place to start.
