Financial assistance available for people evacuated from homes due to wildfires in Newfoundland
The Canadian Red Cross today announced that on behalf of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, it will be distributing financial assistance to people who have been evacuated from their primary residence due to wildfires in Newfoundland.
Eligible households will receive $500 in financial assistance each time they are required to evacuate from their primary residence, that is located in a community under a mandatory evacuation order. This assistance is meant to help people respond to ongoing needs such as food and transportation while evacuated, or clean-up supplies as they return to their community.
To access this assistance, people must be registered with the Canadian Red Cross. The Red Cross will verify eligibility as set by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and based on information submitted during registration and information provided by the government.

- registering online Newfoundland Wildfires Response 2025 - Canadian Red Cross, or
