Melanie Chartier

Melanie is from Abitibi-Témiscamingue in Quebec, a rural area far from the main centres.  She has volunteered for the Canadian Red Cross Personal Disaster Assistance and Emergency Response teams in her region since 2018.

Melanie has a Master's degree in Organizational Management. She has more than twenty years of experience in regional development with the province of Quebec. She also teaches at the University of Quebec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and is a manager at the Hôpital de Rouyn-Noranda. Melanie is actively involved in her community, and she has served on Boards of various organizations.

In the fall of 2020, Melanie was first nominated as a National Member. Her experiences with the Red Cross have provided her with a good understanding of the organization, and she is excited to help people through this new role.

The Red Cross is close to Melanie’s heart.  She is pleased to be involved in the Society’s governance and will strive to fulfill the mandates that will be given to her to the best of her abilities. It is her hope to be involved with the Canadian Red Cross for years to come.
