Joy Martin

Joy has volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross since 1998, when she says, "the 7 Fundamental Principles hooked me." She is involved with many Red Cross teams, including the Personal Disaster Assistance, Emergency Response, Safety and Wellbeing, and the Social Emergency team for Indigenous northern and remote communities.

Joy is an engaged volunteer, who has assisted with local emergencies in her home province of Ontario and has also deployed to more than 20 large-scale responses across Canada and the United States.

Since graduating in social work, Joy has held positions and appointments in community outreach and mental health services and been an active volunteer with various organizations and task forces. She enjoys learning and appreciates the training opportunities provided by the Red Cross that encourage growing and sharing professional and personal strengths to assist people.

Becoming a National Member with the Canadian Red Cross is an extension of Joy’s commitment to the Society, and also allows her to continue learning and contributing further.
