My commitment to humanitarian causes began when I was a teenager volunteering with people with disabilities in Bangladesh. Today that work continues with people like you who support the Canadian Red Cross. It’s an honour to help your values and commitment to compassion live on when you choose to include a gift in your Will.

I’d love to learn about your personal story of why the Red Cross is so important to you. For me, I fondly recall my grandmother taking me and
 my siblings to the local Red Cross swimming lessons. I’ve included a gift in my Will for the Canadian Red Cross. Like you, I’ve worked hard throughout my life and I want whatever is left to go to charity and my family.

I love a lot about my job, especially the countless people I have met over 
 15 years. People share their stories with me knowing it will be kept confidential and I am honoured to have earned their trust. In my off hours,
I volunteer as a Team Lead with the Emergency Management Team. I get
to see firsthand how the funds from our planned gifts come together to assist people in need.

I’ve always known the Canadian Red Cross makes a real difference. But now that I’m part of it, I see just how wide and deep their impact truly goes. It means so much to work with people who show up – at home and around the world – to help others through life changing, catastrophic events. Their compassion and commitment are inspiring. Through legacy gifts, this compassion lives on and reaches people who will need it most long after we’re gone.

The intention behind each gift in a Will is so special. I love that I get to respect a donor’s wishes and then see the impact of their gift come to fruition through the work of the Red Cross.

One of my diary entries from elementary school was titled “My Dream.” In it, I wrote that I wanted to work with the Red Cross to help people. It feels very special to see that dream realized today. It’s even more special that I’m helping others fulfill their own dreams for the future by making a gift in their Will. People will remember and appreciate them for leaving a legacy of generosity that makes a real difference in people’s lives.

I’ve seen the impact of the Canadian Red Cross up close, working on the ground as a disaster management volunteer. Now, I’m proud to support that same life-changing work from a different angle – on the philanthropic side. While I oversee estate administration, I also love getting to know prospective donors. It’s deeply meaningful to hear what they care about, and to help them create a lasting impact through gifts of securities.
