Working with various levels of government, the Red Cross in Quebec was instrumental in welcoming Syrian refugees. Volunteers and staff were on hand when refugees arrived in Montreal and in the various hotels where they were temporarily housed. To this day, the Canadian Red Cross continues to provide support for refugees as they settle into their host communities.
To learn more about the Red Cross response, see this
overview of services provided throughout the Syrian Refugee Arrival.
For more information on how the Red Cross is helping refugees transition into their host communities, check out our
assistance program (available in French only).
Transportation Assistance Program
Thanks to the financial support of the Foundation of Greater Montréal, the Canadian Red Cross will provide, amongst other things, transportation to those registered for the French courses provided by the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion.
