First Contact
Many refugees arriving in Canada face the challenging reality of homelessness, limited resources, and a lack of knowledge about available services for assistance. Often, they feel lost and extremely vulnerable, unsure of where to seek help.
The Canadian Red Cross First Contact Program is designed to provide these refugees with the necessary tools to prevent marginalization, distress, and exploitation. The program offers refugee claimants vital information on how to find affordable housing, navigate the refugee claim process, secure employment, and apply for legal aid or social assistance.
By delivering the right information at the right time, the program significantly enhances the chances of successful integration and helps refugees transition to a new life in Canada. For more information, please visit our First Contact service page.
Program supported by United Way Greater Toronto Area.
