Volunteer Profile: Terry Maksymetz

This week’s feature volunteer is Terry Maksymetz who has been with the Canadian Red Cross for almost a decade.
Many Red Cross volunteers have the opportunity to learn how to deal with disasters great and small and Terry is no exception. He is a member of the First Aid committee, a part of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and he also serves on the Personal Disaster Assistance Team (PDAT).
Looking back over his 10 years of service to the Red Cross, Terry is most proud of the work he did in 2017, helping 1,700 wildfire evacuees find safe haven in Brandon.
Recently retired, Terry has booked the next year and a half towards making his way through his honey-do-list. Volunteering for the Red Cross is also top of his list.
“People should volunteer for the Red Cross because it is hands on, local volunteering. There is nothing better than giving out teddy bears and juice boxes to shiny faced little kids.”
