Volunteer Profile: Janice Jones
Michelle Palansky | May 04, 2018

This week’s feature volunteer is Janice Jones who has been with the Canadian Red Cross for about a year.
Janice started at the Red Cross as a temporary placement hired to manage incoming calls. She enjoyed her time with the Red Cross and loved the continuous learning so Janice decided to register as a volunteer.
As a member of the Emergency Response team (ERT), Janice volunteers after large-scale disasters such as forest fires. Her tasks have included registering evacuees and dispensing basic necessities. Janice has also had the opportunity to act in a supervisory capacity.
After disaster strikes, people can be left with nothing. It is a deeply gratifying experience providing for those in need. Janice remembered with great pride, “helping deliver supplies to those who had been displaced from their homes.”
In her spare time, Janice is an avid reader and she loves to watch her nephew curl.
A busy person with a full time job and family responsibilities, Janice still finds the time to help. “It is well worth helping people in times of need.”
