Update from Lac-Mégantic, Québec

Following an explosion caused by a derailed train in Lac-Megantic, Quebec, the Canadian Red Cross sent teams of volunteers and equipment in support of the municipality to help those in need.  About 2000 people have been evacuated from their homes; of those the Red Cross helped shelter 163 on Saturday and 150 people on Sunday. Others were able to find shelter with friends or family.

The generosity of the Canadian public allows the Red Cross to provide support to those affected, complementary to services provided by all levels of government.
