Trusty Be safe

Some of you may know our mascots here at the Canadian Red Cross- such as Buckles, who promotes water safety and Ready Goose, who helps children learn about disaster preparedness. However, there’s a new and improved kid in town who deserves some attention! Everyone meet Trusty!

Formerly known as part of the c.a.r.e. kit, Trusty was originally introduced as the Violence and Abuse Prevention mascot for the Canadian Red Cross. Maintaining his mascot status, Trusty has moved onto bigger and better things and will now be the face of the newly re-launched c.a.r.e. kit, known as Be Safe! This personal safety program for children aged 5–9, with a focus on child sexual abuse prevention, delivers important messages through a combination of storytelling, educational resources and experiential activities.

If you see Trusty around, be sure to introduce yourself and in exchange he may provide you with some valuable safety tips. Trusty can provide children with the knowledge and skills to increase awareness and prevention, recognize situations that could lead to sexual abuse and understand body ownership.

We’re pleased to see Trusty back in action to share these messages with kids. Plus, he’s super cute!
