Congratulations to our Meals on Wheels program in Mississauga, ON which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, program staff and volunteers hosted a special event this past Monday at a local community centre for members of the community.
Introduced in Mississauga in 1972, the Canadian Red Cross Meals on Wheels program gives vulnerable members of the community the opportunity to have nutritious and delicious meals delivered to their homes at a low cost. During 2010-2011, 70 Meals on Wheels volunteers delivered 40,000 meals to more than 500 people in Mississauga.
