One year ago, the Red Cross in Newfoundland and Labrador announced it was embarking on an ambitious campaign to raise funds to establish a training centre and to be better prepared to respond to disasters. Business leaders and supporters in the community volunteered on the fundraising cabinet and set about reaching this goal. The Secretary General and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross, Conrad Sauvé, made a special trip to St. John's last week to recognize their efforts as the campaign concludes this month.
