Enhancing community resilience to disaster risk in the Caribbean region
- The Canadian Red Cross, with support from the Government of Canada, has completed a three-year project in three countries in the Caribbean to help reduce the impact emergencies on communities.

- A fast-spreading outbreak of Ebola is affecting several countries in West Africa. Ebola is a highly contagious virus that causes severe haemorrhaging. To date, no treatment or vaccine is available for the disease, which kills between 25 – 90 per cent of victims, depending on the strain of the virus.
Canadian aid workers deploy to Chile to support psychosocial needs after major earthquake
- Following the 8.2 magnitude earthquake in Chile on April 1, 2014, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies mobilized its Regional Response Unit (RRU) for the first time. Bringing together expertise from Red Cross National Societies, including the Canadian Red Cross, the unit provided support for the emotional and psychological needs of those affected and helps build the capacity of Chilean Red Cross volunteers so they can continue to provide psychosocial support to communities in the future.
Red Cross supports response in Serbia and Bosnia during catastrophic floods

The Canadian Red Cross is now accepting donations to help those affected by the worst flooding in more than a century in Serbia and Bosnia. To date, tens of thousands have been evacuated from their homes and thousands are still waiting to be rescued.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) has spent the past three years responding to the humanitarian needs of millions within Syria and National Societies in neighbouring countries are providing help to families fleeing the crisis-hit areas.

- Red Cross has recruited and trained new volunteers, distributed materials about emblem use and protection and the Red Cross Movement’s Fundamental Principles through leaflets and mass media, liaised with hospitals and ambulance service and met frequently with authorities and law enforcement agencies.

- On March 11, 2011, a triple disaster including an earthquake, tsunami and nuclear plant meltdown struck part of eastern Japan, leaving thousands of lives forever changed. Today, with the support of the Red Cross, there is clear progress towards recovery in many communities.
