Canadian Red Cross Statement: Canadian Red Cross acknowledges two years since the October 7 attacks in Israel
Two years have passed since the devastating October 7 attacks. The impacts and trauma of the events of that day continue to be deeply felt by people in Israel and around the world. Many people tragically lost loved ones. Families of hostages have lived through an indescribable nightmare, and for those who have not returned, families and friends wait anxiously for their release or news of their fate.
With our Movement partners, the Canadian Red Cross continues to join the call for the unconditional release of all hostages, and the return of human remains, allowing families to mourn. The Red Cross reminds all parties to the conflict to respect International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in all circumstances. IHL prohibits targeting civilians, hostage-taking and unlawful destruction of all civilian infrastructure.
