Investing in your own self-care and wellness is one of the most important things you can do to take care of yourself. By learning how to anticipate stress and crises and equipping yourself with the skills to practice self-care, you'll be better prepared to face life's challenges head-on.

Through a self-directed online component and an instructor-led workshop, you'll develop a self-care plan and apply self-care principles using case-based learning, group discussion, and personal reflection.
It's important to note that while mental health first aid programs teach you how to help someone in a mental health emergency, our Red Cross Psychological First Aid program is a resiliency-based program for everyone. It offers prevention and coping strategies for dealing with different types of stress resulting from various types of trauma.
We recommend that participants be at least 16 years of age and older, adult support recommended for younger audiences. Take this important step towards investing in your own self-care and wellness today.
Duration
- 45–90 minutes for self-directed Psychological First Aid – Self-Care online component
- 1.5–2 hours for Instructor-led classroom component (in-person)
Prerequisites
- Recommended 16 years of age, adult support recommended for younger audiences
Completion
- Successfully complete the online course: Psychological First Aid – Self-Care
- Successfully participate in 100% of the Instructor-led classroom component

One-year certification in Self-Care & Wellness
Course Content
- Develop a self-care plan to improve your coping strategies and increase personal resilience during times of heightened stress.

Note to course participants: If you have previously taken Psychological First Aid – Self-Care, it is still recommended that you refresh your knowledge and self-care plan. Psychological First Aid – Self-Care is included as part of the Self-Care & Wellness Course. No discounts will be applied.
