How you can help

First Aid for Opioid Poisoning Emergencies

Free online training (45–60 minutes)

•   Learn how to respond confidently to an opioid poisoning emergency.
•   Receive a free nasal naloxone kit upon course completion*.
•   Understand how opioids and naloxone affect the body.
•   Discover strategies to reduce stigma and gain strategies for self-care.

Who is this course for? Anyone 16 years of age and older.

* Available to residents in all provinces/territories, except Quebec. While supplies last.

Becoming an Opioid Harm Reduction Champion

Free online training (30 minutes)

•   Learn more about the opioid crisis in Canada and how you can help.
•   Gain skills, knowledge, and resources to change community perceptions of opioid poisoning.
•   Help raise awareness and reduce stigma by promoting simple actions to protect against opioid poisoning emergencies.

Who is this course for? Anyone* 13 years of age and older.

* Residents of Quebec – see below the course Becoming an Opioid Harm Reduction Champion (For Quebec learners).

Becoming an Opioid Harm Reduction Champion (For Quebec residents*)

Free online training (30 minutes)

•   Learn more about the opioid crisis in Canada and how you can help.
•   Gain skills, knowledge, and resources to change community perceptions of opioid poisoning.
•   Help raise awareness and reduce stigma by promoting simple actions to protect against opioid poisoning emergencies.

Who is this course for? Quebec residents of 13 years of age and older.

* Some programming under our Opioid Harm Reduction project is not offered in Quebec as similar programming is already in place. Residents of Quebec will not be able to access naloxone through this project.

ON Workplace Naloxone Program – First Aid for Opioid Poisoning Emergencies

Free online training (45–60 minutes)

•   Online and self-directed course meets all OHSA requirements.
•   Learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to an opioid poisoning emergency, including how to administer nasal naloxone.
•   A free naloxone kit will be sent to the registered workplace upon successful completion of the training by the registered worker.

Who is this course for? Ontario-based employees registered with their workplace for the Workplace Naloxone Program, meeting provincial requirements under OHSA and Bill 88.

The Opioid Harm Reduction (OHR) initiative is guided by an advisory council of subject matter experts. This council includes individuals with lived experience of substance use, their families, and friends (LLEAFF), peers, advocates, and community members.
