Volunteer Profile: Brenda Preston

This week’s feature Canadian Red Cross volunteer in Manitoba is Brenda Preston. Including her time as both a first aid instructor, a personal disaster assistance team supervisor for the Western Manitoba region, an emergency response team responder and facilitator, Brenda has been volunteering with the Canadian Red Cross for 15 years.

After so many years, and so many different roles, with the Red Cross, it continues to be the simple act of giving that keeps Brenda involved. “I am proud to be part of an organization that is truly there to help people.”

An adoring grandmother who loves spending time with her grandchildren, Brenda also enjoys travelling to relax.

As an experienced volunteer, Brenda encourages anyone with the inclination to sign-up. “There are many areas that need volunteers, and the Red Cross helps you find your fit. Training is offered and advancement is possible.”

Red Cross training exercises form some of Brenda’s fondest memories of her time with the Red Cross. These training exercises afford volunteers the opportunity to meet wonderful people, create great teams, and have lots of fun.

Be like Brenda and get practical training, meet wonderful people, and provide help where it’s needed most. Learn more about becoming a Red Cross volunteer at www.redcross.ca/HeroesWantedMB, email vrs@redcross.ca or call 204-982-7330 for more details.
