Canadian Red Cross Personal Disaster Assistance Team in Steinbach Ready to Respond

The Canadian Red Cross personal disaster assistance team (PDAT) in Steinbach is active and ready to respond to personal disasters in Steinbach and surrounding area.

Activated as of June 24, 2019, the team consists of 10 volunteers, and the intent is to grow the team to 17 members strong over the next year.

“The Canadian Red Cross in Manitoba is proud to extend our personal disaster assistance coverage to Steinbach and surrounding area. We look forward to continuing to build our relationships within the community,” said Shawn Feely, vice president, Canadian Red Cross – Manitoba and Nunavut.

“The personal disaster assistance team is a valuable resource for our community and it’s reassuring that our fire and police departments know they can request this resource for our citizens when they most need it,” said Steinbach mayor Earl Funk.

Canadian Red Cross PDATs respond to personal disasters like house fires. The personal disaster assistance team can provide emergency support for necessities like shelter, food, and personal services for up to 72 hours following a small-scale disaster. People affected by a personal disaster can contact the Canadian Red Cross at 1-888-800-6493.
