Educators have an important role in stopping and preventing child abuse and neglect
Violence touches everyone; not only homes and families, but also schools, institutions, workplaces and communities.
Children and youth are the most vulnerable to all forms of violence—physical, sexual and emotional.
Child abuse and neglect can have serious, long-lasting negative effects on children’s and youths’ development, including their ability to learn.
Because educators are in a unique position to spot the signs of child abuse and neglect, they play an important role in reporting child abuse and supporting young people.
We owe our children—the most vulnerable citizens in any society—a life free from violence and fear. In order to ensure this, we must be tireless in our efforts...to attain peace, justice and prosperity...for communities and members of the same family. We must address the roots of violence.
