The Canadian Red Cross, the University of New Brunswick and Dalhousie University are proud to present the 2023 International Humanitarian Law Conference. This significant event will bring together experts from the field, including academics and representatives from the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, to discuss the issue of cyber warfare and armed conflict.

In an age marked by unprecedented technological advancements, the boundaries of warfare have expanded beyond conventional battlefields into the realm of cyberspace. As nations harness the power of digital innovation to enhance their capabilities, it becomes imperative to address the humanitarian and legal implications that arise from this transformative shift.

This event designed for university students, legal professionals, humanitarian workers, and educators will tackle the complexities of modern-day conflicts to provide you with a better understanding of the pressing issues in International Humanitarian Law (IHL), which can be defined as the rule of international law limiting the use of violence in armed conflicts for humanitarian reasons. This free, half-day public conference will include discussion from field experts, academics, and those with lived experience in conflict zones.
