Calling all kids under 12 – Become part of Canada’s Swim Team

As families prepare for what most people may refer to as the “last weekend of summer”, the Red Cross reminds Canadians that swim season isn’t over yet.

In fact, children aged 12 and under are still eligible to join Canada’s Swim Team - an initiative between the Canadian Red Cross, Swim Canada and the Lifesaving Society, encouraging all Canadian children to learn to swim.

Children aged 12 and under who are able to complete a 25 metre swim without aid or assistance, are eligible to be a part of Canada’s Swim Team. Their swim must be completed during a swimming lesson which involves a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor present.

Children who complete their 25 metre swim will receive a membership card, which is a luggage tag-style card that attaches to their swimming bag. The card also encourages members to add their name to Canada’s Swim Team roster, which is an effort to become the World’s Largest Swim Team.
