Red Cross Meals On Wheels client Nancy Breckenridge got more than a meal when her lunch was delivered by her local Councillor Bonnie Crombie.
Across Ontario this week, many communities are participating in Mayors for Meals events as a way of promoting Meals On Wheels. To highlight the importance of the program and raise awareness about the importance of the Meals On Wheels program, Mayors and Councillors were invited to become Red Cross volunteers and help deliver meals to clients.
The Canadian Red Cross offers Meals on Wheels in numerous communities. The program benefits people who are unable to prepare meals for themselves and assits them with living independently in their own home.
