Late last year, 15 teachers and 5 teacher candidates attended the second annual Exploring Humanitarian Law Teachers Conference in Hamilton, Ontario. The Exploring Humanitarian Law program provides a toolkit of resources to educate students on the importance of ensuring the rights and protections of those impacted by war. The 15 hours of professional development provided teachers with the materials and training to help students understand humanitarian law. The participants made commitments to using the Canadian Red Cross' Exploring Humanitarian Law toolkit to become Teacher Champions within Ontario to help train other educators. Since last year's conference, nearly 2000 youth in Ontario have been educated with the EHL curriculum.
