Guest post by Gordon Lamb, Communications Assistant at the Canadian Red Cross in Alberta
Taking advantage of the recent warm weather, Canadian Red Cross staff hit the Duke of Southerland Waterpark in Brooks, Alberta to spread the message about being safe near the water. They set up a toy fishing pond and chatted with children to get them thinking about water safety.
More than 30 junior anglers fished in the toy pond and won prizes that included water safety activity sheets, stickers and removable tattoos, as well as their choice of a cold snack or bubbles.
