Photo of the Day: Dominican Red Cross provides local shelters with water

Dominican Red Cross and IFRC rapid assessment teams visit a shelter in Santo Domingo to assess needs and deliver much needed water after Hurricane Sandy. Water tanks have been delivered to shelters by Dominican water and sanitation teams comprised of members of the Dominican Red Cross and the Dominican government’s water management agency. Hurricane Sandy’s passage through the Caribbean has caused devastation across the region, with significant damage reported in Jamaica and 52 dead and 200,000 left homeless in Haiti.

Canadians are encouraged to support Red Cross relief efforts by making a financial donation to the Canadian Red Cross. Funds may be given to support hurricane response across the region through the Hurricanes 2012 fund, or can be donated directly to the United States recovery operations through the Hurricane Sandy – USAfund.
