Celebrating ordinary people doing extraordinary things

This week we honour National Volunteer Week, a time for all of us at the Canadian Red Cross to thank our dedicated volunteers from coast to coast who donate their time and talents to improve the lives of vulnerable people in Canada.

Over the course of the week we will use this blog to share stories about our volunteers and the amazing work they do -- it's a small sample of the outstanding individuals across the country. They are ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Because of our volunteers, Red Cross is able to touch the lives of thousands across the country. Whether it's providing comfort and support to families who have lost their homes to fire, providing a ride to the doctor for an elderly member of the community, or providing leadership as a member of a local branch council, you have made a difference.

This year's Volunteer Week has added significance because it marks the 10-year anniversary of the Internal Year of Volunteering.

If you're not already a volunteer, we challenge you to find the volunteer in you!
