This is one of my favourite photos that photographer Johan Hallberg-Campbell took on a recent visit to Attawapiskat to see the Canadian Red Cross in action. This young boy named Orion was photographed at his school when we went along with his father to pick him up at the end of the school day. I like this photo because he has a sort of stance and expression that exudes determination and focus; in short, this boy means business!
Orion's father is Joseph Kataquapit who owns and manages the Kataquapit Inn in Attawapiskat. Joseph has been hosting Canadian Red Cross staff and volunteers at his inn. He really has gone the extra mile to welcome us and ensure we have everything we need so that we can focus on our task at hand, which is to help the most vulnerable members of the community to stay warm and safe this winter.
