REGINA, February 19, 2016 – Next Wednesday, hundreds of schools and communities across Saskatchewan will be holding assemblies, rallies and parades to celebrate Red Cross Pink Day.
Presented by RBC, Red Cross Pink Day aims to raise awareness about the impact of bullying and what people can do to create safe and respectful environments. For each official Pink Day shirt sold, the Canadian Red Cross can educate one person to recognize and respond to bullying.
“Once again, the province of Saskatchewan has stepped up to respond to the completely preventable issue of bullying in our schools and communities,” said Red Cross Pink Day project manager Luc Mullinder. “Through the fundraising efforts of this year’s campaign, we were able to reach over 40,000 more people with our bullying prevention education messages. That’s over and above the thousands of students we already reach through our Imagine No Bullying initiatives.”

"This worldwide movement is about taking action to ensure that everyone feels safe and respected in their schools and communities."
This year, RBC is launching the #RBCPinkHero contest to recognize and reward two students and one teacher in Saskatchewan as #RBC PinkHeroes on April 13, 2016. More information about the contest can be found at redcross.ca/pinksk.
All proceeds from Red Cross Pink Day go directly to supporting Red Cross bullying prevention education in Saskatchewan.
The Canadian Red Cross is Canada’s leader in bullying prevention education. Children, youth and adults are educated through Canadian Red Cross Respect Education programs to be able to recognize, respond to and prevent bullying behaviour.
