Saskatchewan Day of Caring raises $680,000

Province-wide radio campaign helps support Saskatchewan communities impacted by wildfires

The Canadian Red Cross extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the Saskatchewan Day of Caring, held on Thursday, June 12. Thanks to the incredible generosity of people across Saskatchewan, we are proud to announce that the event raised $680,000 to support individuals, families, and communities affected by the wildfires in Saskatchewan.

“The Saskatchewan Day of Caring is a testament to how communities rally together in times of need. The Red Cross is so grateful to radio stations across the province, and to the talented folks behind the microphones who made this possible,” said Luc Mullinder, Canadian Red Cross vice-president for Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Nunavut. “The generosity demonstrated through the radiothon is truly inspiring and provides a much-needed boost to our teams on the ground in Saskatchewan, who are working tirelessly to support affected communities.”

As of June 16, the 2025 Saskatchewan Wildfires Appeal has raised $2.2 million. This amount is inclusive of donations pledged or received and does not include matching funds from the Government of Canada. Matching funds will be applied to the total amount as they become available to the Canadian Red Cross at a later date. The donation total also does not include the funds committed from the Government of Saskatchewan for the Canadian Red Cross to work with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency to assist those most impacted by the wildfires. The application of those committed funds is currently being discussed and will be determined by the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.
