REGINA, February 24, 2015 – A fresh, bold look for the iconic pink shirt is being revealed for Red Cross Day of Pink.
“We’ve gone to a much darker pink than in previous years and we also feature a large Imagine No Bullying statement on the back of the shirt,” said Richard Kies, Provincial Development Manager for the Red Cross in Saskatchewan. “On April 1, 40,000 students and adults across Saskatchewan will be participating by wearing pink, attending rallies and other community events to show that bullying is no longer socially acceptable.”
The Red Cross is offering a free pink bracelet with every pink shirt order on Wednesday, Feb. 25 only, while supplies last. Red Cross Day of Pink merchandise can be purchased at redcross.ca/pinkSK. The purchase of one shirt will help the Red Cross reach one student with bullying prevention education.
“We encourage people to order now, while supplies last,” said Kies. “All proceeds go directly to Red Cross bullying prevention education in Saskatchewan.”
“We work with our school partners year-round to create respectful schools and we celebrate this together in early April each year,” said Kies. “We believe though that every day should be a “pink day” – where students stand up for each other and treat each other with respect.”

Presented by SaskEnergy, Red Cross Day of Pink aims to raise awareness about bullying issues and what people can do to create safe and respectful environments. Nearly 40,000 students and businesses across the province will wear pink t-shirts, hats, bracelets and stickers to celebrate the day. Hundreds of schools and communities across the province will be holding assemblies, rallies and parades that help promote respect and celebrate Red Cross Day of Pink initiatives.
