King Charles III Coronation Medals awarded to outstanding Canadian Red Cross volunteers, donors, and staff
Celebrating the dedication and impact of 97 recipients
The Canadian Red Cross is proud to announce that 97 of its volunteers, staff, and donors, have been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. The King Charles III Coronation Medal was created to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. It is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a Coronation. Red Cross recipients represent a wide range of skills, experiences, and backgrounds from across the country, and they embody many of the Red Cross Fundamental Principles — from their humanity and impartiality to their spirit of voluntary service.
The nomination criteria were set by the Governor General and Canadian Red Cross. The Red Cross invited its staff and volunteers to submit nominations for Canadian Red Cross volunteers, employees or delegates who have:
- made a significant contribution to the country, a province, territory, region or community, or made an outstanding achievement abroad, or has made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada;
- been alive on May 6, 2023, the date of The King’s Coronation. Nominations can be made posthumously, if the nominee was alive on that date;
- at least three (3) years of service with the Canadian Red Cross.
All nominations received were reviewed for eligibility. Only individuals who met all of the above criteria were successful in receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
"It is a privilege to recognize such deserving individuals for their dedicated service in communities across Canada and around the world,” said Conrad Sauvé, president and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross. “This prestigious honour is a fitting recognition of their compassion, humanitarian spirit, and unwavering commitment to helping others. I want to congratulate all recipients and thank them for their commitment to Canada and the Canadian Red Cross.”
