Canadian Red Cross thanks all participants for Manitoba Day of Caring
Province-wide event by Manitoba radio stations raises more than $139,000
The Canadian Red Cross would like to thank everyone who supported the Manitoba Day of Caring on Thursday, June 5. Thanks to the generosity of Manitobans, the Manitoba Day of Caring raised more than $139,000 to help individuals and families impacted by wildfires in Manitoba.
“This fundraising effort would not have been possible without the time, talent, and support provided from more than 30 radio stations throughout the province, as well as the generosity of Manitobans, and many community partners,” said Luc Mullinder, Canadian Red Cross vice-president for Manitoba and Nunavut. “The outpouring of support shown through the radiothon is encouraging for Canadian Red Cross volunteers and staff who are working around the clock to assist people impacted by the wildfires in Manitoba. The funds raised will go a long way with helping people affected by the fires in the days, weeks, and months ahead.”
Donations to the Canadian Red Cross will be used for assisting those impacted in Manitoba with immediate and ongoing relief, including financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires, as well as supporting community preparedness and risk reduction for future all-hazard disaster events within Manitoba.
The Government of Manitoba and the Government of Canada will match every donation made by individual Canadians to the 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Appeal for 30 days, retroactive to when the appeal opened on May 28.
