Ready When the Time Comes Program in Quebec
The Ready When the Time Comes (RWTC) volunteer program by the Canadian Red Cross leverages the invaluable human resources of our partner corporations to support local communities during emergencies. We prioritize aiding those affected by disasters by ensuring they receive the essentials: shelter, food, weather-appropriate clothing, hygiene products, and comfort.
Since 2011, over 812 RWTC volunteers from organizations, businesses, associations and individual members have been deployed in Quebec, contributing nearly 11,200 hours of on-the-ground support.

Volunteer engagement can take different forms
Deployment time can range from one to four days. The “Volunteering in Emergency Situations” training course introduces the Red Cross Movement and covers the basics of emergency response through theoretical components and practical exercises. In this training, RWTC volunteers cover, among other things, what to expect in emergency situations, teamwork, logistics and the emergency response work environment. This training is provided by the Canadian Red Cross.Expert volunteers
Deployment time can range from one to two weeks. We are seeking experts in recruitment, logistics, communications, emergency preparedness, information technology and other fields to support our teams during response operations. The Red Cross offers thorough orientation and integration into our teams.Drop-in volunteers
Even a single day counts! No training is required. We can accommodate teams of 5 to 20 RWTC volunteers to assist with logistical deployments in our warehouses, open emergency shelter sites, or support affected communities, among other tasks.
