In this photo, medical and surgical staff taking part in delegate training this week are learning about the equipment available to them with the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Response Unit (ERU), also called a field hospital.
With this equipment they have the capacity to put up a fully functioning operating room and can be ready to treat people within three hours.
The field hospital also has the capacity to establish a maternity ward, an outpatient department, a triage, and can keep some patients overnight as required. The hospital also has capabilities to provide psychosocial and community health support.
